Basketball Game Preview: Rangeview Raiders vs. Denver South Ravens

The Rangeview Raiders will head out to challenge the Denver South Ravens at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Rangeview's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Rangeview beat Northfield 74-68. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Nighthawks are ranked 39th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rangeview's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ladavian King, who went 7 for 14 on his way to 23 points and three steals. The game was King's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Archie Weatherspoon V, who went 9 of 16 en route to 23 points and six assists.

Meanwhile, Denver South entered their tilt with Vista PEAK Prep on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Bison by a score of 71-60.

Rangeview better keep an eye on Dominic Rhoades-Martinez. He was instrumental in Denver South's win, going 9 for 17 on his way to 25 points in addition to five assists and four steals. Rhoades-Martinez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Brody Shepherd was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine boards.

Rangeview's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.3 points per game. As for Denver South, their record now sits at 9-2.

Rangeview couldn't quite finish off Denver South when the teams last played back in February of 2024 and fell 55-53. Can Rangeview avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
