Softball Recap: Battery Creek Wins Going Away Against Hilton Head Island

Battery Creek won the last time they faced Hilton Head Island and things went their way on Monday too. The Battery Creek Dolphins were the clear victor by a 22-8 margin over the Hilton Head Island Seahawks. The Dolphins' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Stella Schubert made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 4-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mia Isreal, who fired off four runs, three doubles, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. AaLiyah ELMORE was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 3-for-4.

Battery Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .793. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hilton Head Island only posted a batting average of .364.

The victory got Battery Creek back to even at 2-2. As for Hilton Head Island, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Battery Creek will square off against Beaufort at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Battery Creek will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for Hilton Head Island, they will take on Hampton County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hilton Head Island has given up an average of 15.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
