Baseball Recap: Gilbert Comes Up Short

Gilbert couldn't beat Desert Ridge on Tuesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fifth inning. The Tigers lost 19-8 to the Jaguars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-6 two weeks ago.

Gilbert got a massive performance out of Raiden Brown, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that Brown has launched this season. Brady Carlin was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Gilbert has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. As for Desert Ridge, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

While Gilbert had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
