Soccer Recap: Batavia Comes Up Short

Batavia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Middleton Cardinals. While losing is never fun, Batavia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' soccer rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 166th in Illinois, while Middleton are ranked 12th in Wisconsin).

Batavia's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7-1. As for Middleton, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-1-3 record this season.

Batavia will look to defend their home pitch on Tuesday against Geneva at 5:00 p.m. As for Middleton, they will challenge Ankeny Centennial at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday.
