Baseball Recap: Palisades Has No Trouble Against East Mecklenburg

Palisades lost a heartbreaker the last time they played East Mecklenburg, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's matchup. The Palisades Pumas were the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over the East Mecklenburg Eagles on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Pumas considering their two-run performance the game before.

Micah VanFossen made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one triple.

In other batting news, Max Wearing and Luis Requena did most of the damage at the plate: Wearing went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Requena scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Addison Rowland, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Palisades' victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-1. As for East Mecklenburg, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Coming up, Palisades will square off against Berry at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for East Mecklenburg, they will take on Porter Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
