Baseball Recap: Thursday's Win Is University Charter's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but University Charter had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They came out on top against the Woodland Bobcats by a score of 5-2.

Michael Gibson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jonah Dubose and Josiah Dubose did most of the damage at the plate: Jonah went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double, while Josiah went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs Josiah has posted since back in March.

University Charter hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woodland struck out eight times.

University Charter is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Woodland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-18.

University Charter will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bobcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
