Softball Game Preview: Escondido Cougars vs. Ramona Bulldogs

Escondido hasn't had much luck against Ramona recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Cougars will head out to face off against the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Ramona took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Escondido, who comes in off a win.

Escondido took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They walked away with an 11-7 win over Classical Academy. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Cougars' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Abby White was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Dabelstein, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Ramona suffered their biggest loss since April 10th on Friday. They lost 11-0 to Westview. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Wolverines recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Escondido's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-15. As for Ramona, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-13-1.

Escondido came up short against Ramona in their previous matchup last Monday, falling 5-1. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
