Basketball Recap: Pace Academy triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Lawson Monroe

Basketball Recap: Pace Academy Knights vs. McDonough Warhawks

The Pace Academy Knights entered their tilt with the McDonough Warhawks with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Pace Academy came out on top against the Warhawks by a score of 59-52 on Saturday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Pace Academy also won the last time the pair played last Friday.

It was another big night for Lawson Monroe, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 21 rebounds. Kate Grice was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.

Despite the loss, McDonough still got an impressive performance from Janique Trinidad, who scored 23 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Trinidad hasn't dropped below 18 points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Amiyah Dedrick, who scored seven points along with five steals.

Pace Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for McDonough, their loss dropped their record down to 10-13.

Pace Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Stockbridge presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Knights in Georgia (the Tigers are ranked 48th, while the Knights are ranked 151st). As for McDonough, they and the Lions will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Luella will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
