The Plant Panthers will venture away from home to face off against the Lennard Longhorns at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Plant is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

Plant is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Alonso just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Ravens by a score of 7-6.

Gigi Cozzens was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out ten batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kate Compton was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Shelise Johnson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lennard, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 12-0 margin over Spoto on Thursday. Considering the Longhorns have won three matchups by more than 11 runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Sarita Hernandez was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy McClain, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Lennard was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spoto only posted a batting average of .000.

Plant's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Lennard, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Everything went Plant's way against Lennard in their previous meeting back in March of 2019, as Plant made off with a 16-10 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Plant since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
