Basketball Game Preview: DMLK Panthers vs. KIPP Denver Collegiate White Tigers

The DMLK Panthers will venture away from home to take on the KIPP Denver Collegiate White Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. DMLK will be strutting in after a win while KIPP Denver Collegiate will be coming in after a defeat.

DMLK is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They put the hurt on DSST: Green Valley Ranch with a sharp 53-30 victory on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

DMLK got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tay Hugley out in front who posted 16 points. Another player making a difference was Ashley Rodriguez, who had 14 points.

Meanwhile, KIPP Denver Collegiate came up short against Arrupe Jesuit on Tuesday and fell 42-30. The White Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

DMLK will have to keep a close watch on Shaila Ramirez and Nicole Ricalday, a pair of players who had a big impact on KIPP Denver Collegiate's prior game. Ramirez earned eight points along with eight rebounds and four blocks, while Ricalday scored eight points in addition to eight boards and four steals. Ramirez is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played dating back to last season. Yarely Gomez also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

The win made it two in a row for DMLK and bumps their season record up to 3-4. As for KIPP Denver Collegiate, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
