Softball Game Preview: Brusly Panthers vs. St. Michael Warriors

The Brusly Panthers will take on the St. Michael Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

St. Michael will be up against a hot Brusly team: the squad just extended their winning streak to seven. Brusly never let West Feliciana get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Tuesday.

Abigail Heidbrink looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single walk any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, LillyRose Albarez was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Zoe Fabre was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. Michael, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They blew past Breaux Bridge 11-0 on Saturday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Warriors needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

St. Michael pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Brusly, their record is now 11-3.

Everything went Brusly's way against St. Michael in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Brusly made off with a 19-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Brusly since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
