Baseball Recap: Delphi Community Finds Playoff Glory Versus Seeger

It's playoff time, and Delphi Community had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Seeger Patriots on Saturday. This was payback for the Oracles, who suffered a 9-5 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Keygan Elliott spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brett Huffman was incredible, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with five stolen bases and two runs. Delphi Community is undefeated when Huffman posts two or more runs, but 4-11 otherwise. Tayte Bernhardt was another key player, earning two runs and two stolen bases.

Delphi Community is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Seeger, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-11.

Looking ahead, Delphi Community will challenge Lafayette Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Knights will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Oracles surely won't give up without a fight. Seeger does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
