Softball Game Preview: Lewiston Blue Devils vs. Skowhegan River Hawks

Lewiston hasn't had much luck against Skowhegan recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Blue Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the River Hawks at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lewiston 2.6, Skowhegan 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Lewiston took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over Mt. Blue. The win continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Skowhegan had just enough and edged out Nokomis 2-1 on Wednesday.

Abigale Carey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Skowhegan saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaiden Dodge, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Another was Addison Lynch, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Skowhegan's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Lewiston, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.

Lewiston came out on top in a nail-biter against Skowhegan in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, sneaking past 5-4. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the River Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
