Omaha North hasn't had much luck against Omaha Westside recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Omaha North Vikings just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Omaha Westside Warriors at 5:15 p.m. Omaha North is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.8 points per game this season.
On Friday, Omaha North came up short against Buena Vista and fell 59-47.
Omaha North might have lost, but man, Jerri'On Williams was a machine: he went 7 of 17 to rack up 18 points and seven boards. Williams has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Amillio Coppage-Wheeler, who went 5 for 10 en route to 11 points and six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Omaha North smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in February of 2024.
Meanwhile, Omaha Westside faced Millard North in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. Omaha Westside fell just short of Millard North by a score of 69-66. The Warriors have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Omaha North will need to focus on slowing down London Dada, one of several Omaha Westside players who made an impact when they last played. He went 6 of 11 on his way to 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lee Robinson, who went 5 for 10 to rack up 17 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.
Omaha North's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Omaha Westside, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 16-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Omaha North has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Omaha Westside struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Omaha North ended up a good deal behind Omaha Westside in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, losing 74-60. Can Omaha North avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
