Baseball Recap: Littleton Lions vs. D'Evelyn Jaguars
Littleton fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against D'Evelyn on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jaguars. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Jaguars recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.
Evan Siler was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Lucas Calonder was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Thomas Kusner, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Littleton's loss dropped their record down to 4-18. As for D'Evelyn, their win bumped their record up to 8-15.
Coming up, Littleton will venture away from home to face off against Standley Lake at 12:30 p.m. on Monday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Gators have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. D'Evelyn does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
