Chowchilla had won eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they bumped up to 5-2 to make it nine. They skirted past the Fowler Redcats 34-31. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tribe also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

Chowchilla was led to victory by Nathan Fuentes and Tristan Beardsley. Fuentes rushed for 145 yards and one touchdown while picking up 9.1 yards per carry, while Beardsley rushed for 141 yards and one score on only 14 carries. Fuentes is becoming a predictor of the Tribe's success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't).

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Chowchilla was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 382 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 311 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.

Chowchilla didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jesse Baker and Levi Marsh.

As for Fowler, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fowler lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jesse Michel III, who rushed for 97 yards and one TD, and also picked up 49 receiving yards and one score. Another player making a difference was Derek Luna, who threw for 216 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.8 yards per attempt.

Chowchilla wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 36-26 defeat against Minarets on the 17th. As for Fowler, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 21-14 win against Riverdale on the 17th.
