Basketball Recap: Jasper County Comes Up Short

Jasper County lost to Washington County two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Hurricanes fell 56-48 to the Golden Hawks. While losing is never fun, the Hurricanes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 249th, while the Golden Hawks are ranked 119th).

Washington County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aiden Watts, who went 7-for-9 en route to 16 points and six rebounds. Those 16 points gave Watts a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaden Atkinson, who posted nine points and eight boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Jasper County and nudges their season record down to 6-9. As for Washington County, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Jasper County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-39 victory against W D Mohammed on the 13th. As for Washington County, they have also already played their next matchup, a 66-51 loss against Dodge County on the 13th.
