Baseball Recap: Pendleton County Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Pendleton County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They put the hurt on Bath County with a sharp 11-5 win. This was a revenge game for Pendleton County: when they faced off against Bath County back in March, they had to take a 7-0 defeat.

Pendleton County got a great performance from Colton Ortlieb as he pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits.

At the plate, Kevin Miles and Carter Glahn did most of the damage at the plate: Miles went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Glahn got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs Glahn has posted over his last ten matchups. Another player making a difference was Easton Verst, who went 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.

Pendleton County's victory bumped their record up to 14-10. As for Bath County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-14.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pendleton County will square off against Newport at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bath County, they will face off against Nicholas County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bluejackets have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season.
