Football Recap: Mira Mesa Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Mira Mesa extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 3-4. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 22-16 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mission Bay Buccaneers. While losing is never fun, the Marauders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 515th, while the Buccaneers are ranked 184th).

Nico Giusti threw for 197 yards on 14 of 28 attempts. Devin Cabrales was his top target, picking up 39 receiving yards. On the ground, Niko Cato rushed for 32 yards.

As for Mission Bay, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 8-0. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 33.5 points this season.

Mission Bay was led to victory by Trey Arnold and Nestor Bautista. Arnold threw for 250 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.7% of his passes, while Bautista gained 123 total yards and a touchdown. The dominant performance also gave Bautista a new career-high in rushing yards (89).
