Curtis hasn't had much luck against Rogers recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Curtis will head out to square off against Rogers at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Curtis not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 24, 2024. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over Bellarmine Prep. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Rogers hadn't beaten South Kitsap on the road since May 8, 2018 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. Rogers put the hurt on South Kitsap with a sharp 13-1 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Rams sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Sierra Murray made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Payton Walling was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Riley Humphrey was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4.
Rogers was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Rogers' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Curtis, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Curtis suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Rogers in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can Curtis avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
