It was a good run, but St. Augustine unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 11-6 to the John Curtis Christian Patriots. The Purple Knights were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Patriots earlier this season, when they won 2-1.

Kenyon Hughes was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Isaiah Fields was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

St. Augustine's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for John Curtis Christian, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 14-9.

Coming up, St. Augustine will head out to take on Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season. As for John Curtis Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Brother Martin at 1:00 p.m. Brother Martin will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something John Curtis Christian surely won't give up without a fight.
