Soccer Game Preview: Wayne County vs. Laurel

The Wayne County War EaglesLady War Eagles will head out to face off against the Laurel Golden Tornadoes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Wayne County and West Jones meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The War EaglesLady War Eagles fell 3-1 to the Mustangs. While losing is never fun, Wayne County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi soccer rankings (they are ranked 115th, while West Jones are ranked 13th).

Meanwhile, Laurel narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past North Pike 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for Laurel.

Laurel's win bumped their record up to 9-13. As for Wayne County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11-2 record this season.
