Baseball Recap: Copiah Academy Colonels vs. Silliman Institute Wildcats

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Copiah Academy had no problem doing just that on Friday. They had just enough and edged the Silliman Institute Wildcats out 5-4. This was a revenge contest for Copiah Academy, as the team was forced to settle for a 6-0 loss when these two played last Tuesday.

Will Drew tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, Jackson Teasley was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, a stolen base, and a double. Nico Crechale was another key contributor, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Copiah Academy pushed their record up to 9-8 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Silliman Institute, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-6.

As of now, neither Copiah Academy nor Silliman Institute have any future games scheduled.
