Baseball Recap: Perth Amboy Gets the Win

The Perth Amboy Panthers beat the LEAP Academy Lancers 12-7 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Victor Cruz looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Gary Rojas was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Yariann Abreu, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Perth Amboy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .677. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as LEAP Academy only posted an OBP of .500.

Perth Amboy's win bumped their record up to 3-16. As for LEAP Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Perth Amboy will head out to challenge Woodbridge at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for LEAP Academy, they will face off against Lakewood at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
