Volleyball Recap: Poca Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Wirt County

Poca faced Wirt County in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Dots took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers.

Sophia Bailey paced Poca's offense, picking up six kills. Bailey got some help from Abby Barnett and her seven assists. Barnett was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Poca's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 10-1-1 and their overall record down to 29-5-5. As for Wirt County, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 24-4-2.

Coincidentally, Poca and Wirt County will both be playing Tyler the next time they take the court. The Tigers will head out to face the Knights at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Dots will play them later in the day, at 4:00 p.m.
