Softball Recap: St. Peter Comes Up Short

St. Peter fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Jordan on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Hubmen / Jaguars by a score of 7-6. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Saints of the 6-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Auden Anderson was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Courtlynn Spessard was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Ashley Liebl was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

St. Peter's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-7. As for Jordan, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Peter will head out to face off against Marshall at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.4 runs per game on average), something the Saints will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Jordan, they will face off against Southwest Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
