Softball Recap: Slocum Makes It Five in a Row at Home

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Slocum brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They put the hurt on the Centerville Tigers with a sharp 16-1 win on Thursday. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Slocum's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Centerville, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Slocum will venture away from home to challenge Latexo at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Slocum 3.9, Latexo 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Centerville, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Centerville Tigers take on Normangee Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. They have given up an average of 14.1 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
