Baseball Recap: Pleasant Grove Has No Trouble Against Cosumnes Oaks

Pleasant Grove never let their opponents score on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack as they made off with a 12-0 victory. That looming 12-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Eagles yet this season.

Jake Dougherty looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Pleasant Grove is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Varin Verma was a standout: he scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Luke Nickerson also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Pleasant Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

The win got Pleasant Grove back to even at 6-6. As for Cosumnes Oaks, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-3.
