Basketball Game Preview: Richmond Red Devils vs. Mt. Vernon Marauders

Richmond is 0-10 against Mt. Vernon since January of 2018 but things could change on Saturday. The Red Devils just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Marauders at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Friday, Richmond came up short against Anderson and fell 52-43. While the Red Devils didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Indians 15-9 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon ended up a good deal behind Roncalli on Thursday and lost 56-41.

Richmond will need to focus on slowing down Kendra Ash, one of several Mt. Vernon players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 13 points and six boards. Ash has also also been stellar as far as three-point shooting accuracy is concerned: she's posted one of at least 50% every time she's hit the court this season. Another player making a difference was Zoey Wood, who put up 15 points and seven rebounds.

Richmond's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Mt. Vernon, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Richmond might still be hurting after the 53-31 defeat they got from Mt. Vernon when the teams last played back in February. Can the Red Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
