Baseball Recap: Buckhorn Takes a Loss

Buckhorn had lost five straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 11-21 to make it six. They came up short against the Hazard Bulldogs / Lady Bulldogs, falling 15-0. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bulldogs / Lady Bulldogs this season, with their most recent defeat being a 18-0 loss back in April.

As for Hazard, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 21-5. 15 seems to be a good number for they as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

For Hazard's part, Talon Goins and Max Pelfrey made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Goins pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Pelfrey tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Goins has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Goins went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Pelfrey went 1-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits Goins has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tucker Napier, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Trace Kincaid was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

As of now, neither Buckhorn nor Hazard have any future games scheduled.
