Volleyball Game Preview: La Costa Canyon Mavericks vs. Torrey Pines Falcons

La Costa Canyon hasn't had much luck against Torrey Pines recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Mavericks will venture away from home to take on the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

La Costa Canyon will bounce into Thursday's game after beating Poway, who they had gone 1-7 against in their eight prior meetings. The Mavericks came out on top against the Titans by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mavericks.

La Costa Canyon had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 17-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-13.

Gerrit Van Glabbeek was the offensive standout of the contest as he had 11 digs and three assists. That's the most digs he has posted since back in March.

Meanwhile, Torrey Pines beat Del Norte 3-1 on Wednesday.

Torrey Pines had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-21.

Torrey Pines' record now sits at 22-6. As for La Costa Canyon, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 10-15.

La Costa Canyon might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Torrey Pines in their previous meeting on April 8th. Can the Mavericks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
