Seminole hasn't had much luck against Greenwood recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Indians will be playing at home against the Rangers at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Greenwood will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Seminole extended their winning streak to four on Friday. The Indians really took it to Snyder for the full four quarters, racking up an 88-14 win. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 47-7.
Seminole found their leader in freshman Landen Guerra, who picked up 229 receiving yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 42 yards. Guerra really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 93 yards. Jacob Gonzales was another key player, throwing for 223 yards and three touchdowns on only ten passes.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Seminole proved: they limited Snyder to a paltry 2.1 yards per carry. The team can thank Ryan Werdenberg for the heroic effort on defense: he. Seminole didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.7.
Seminole didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Braylon Mata led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Kasey Heide got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Greenwood). They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 56-7 victory over Fort Stockton. The win continues a trend for the Rangers in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won seven in a row.
Greenwood's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Seminole, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
Seminole came up short against Greenwood in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 28-24. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Rangers' Lincoln Madrid, who rushed for 226 yards and three scores while picking up 9.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 107 yards and one TD. Now that the Indians know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
