Basketball Recap: East Laurens Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

East Laurens hadn't done well against Washington County recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The East Laurens Falcons managed a 61-55 win over the Washington County Golden Hawks. The victory continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Golden Hawks: they've now won three in a row.

East Laurens was led to victory by Tylan Snead and Rashund Washington Jr.. Snead dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds, while Washington Jr. dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten boards. Snead's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Skyler Snead, who posted ten points.

East Laurens smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Washington County only pulled down seven offensive boards.

Defeat or not, Washington County got some senior leadership from Antavion Poole and Jusden Culpepper. Poole went 5-for-6 to rack up 11 points, while Culpepper had nine points and three steals. What's more, Poole also posted a 83% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024. Kaden Collins was another key player, putting up five points.

East Laurens pushed their record up to 17-5 with the win, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.4 points over those games. As for Washington County, their loss dropped their record down to 10-17.

Looking ahead, East Laurens will challenge Southwest at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Southwest knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully East Laurens likes a good challenge. Washington County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
