Baseball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Southlake Christian Academy's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hickory Grove Christian, SouthLake Christian Academy was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy Patriots an 8-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won five contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Braden Kendall made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kendall was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Kendall wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was John Balcerzak, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs Balcerzak has posted since back in March. Luke Conenna also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

SouthLake Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. SouthLake Christian Academy will welcome Concord Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ambassador Christian School at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
