Recap: Union Cougars vs. Emery Spartans

The Union Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 50-39 to Emery. Union lost against Emery in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 62-38 score last time.

It was another big night for Katelyn Nielson, who scored 20 points along with 9 rebounds for Emery. The contest was Nielson's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Saige Curtis, who scored 8 points.

Union bumped their record down to 1-8 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Emery, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Union is on the road again on December 16th and play against Millard at 10:30 a.m. on December 16th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Millard is ranked 109th, while Union is ranked 108th). Emery won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Beaver at 7:00 p.m. on December 8th. Beaver is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
