With a playoff win on the line, Greensburg rose to the challenge on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Batesville Bulldogs 2-1. This was a revenge game for the Pirates: when they faced off against the Bulldogs last Friday, they had to take a 4-3 defeat.

Luke Hoeing spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Greensburg secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Joey Everroad, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Greensburg and bumps their season record up to 17-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Batesville, they moved to 21-6 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Greensburg nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
