Football Recap: Santaluces Takes a Loss

Santaluces has relied on a stalwart defense averaging 13.89 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Thursday. They were dealt a 31-0 loss at the hands of the Royal Palm Beach Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Chiefs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 354th, while the Wildcats are ranked 130th).

Royal Palm Beach's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Monica Blanc led the charge by throwing for 53 yards and three TDs. Blanc has become a key player for the Wildcats: the team is 2-1 when she posts at least three passing touchdowns, but 4-5 otherwise. Miyrah Muniz was in the mix as well, providing Royal Palm Beach with two scores.

Santaluces has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. As for Royal Palm Beach, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Santaluces wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 19-12 win against St. John Paul II Academy on the 7th. As for Royal Palm Beach, they have also already played their next matchup, a 19-0 victory against Leonard on the 8th.
