Basketball Recap: Randy Jackson Jr's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Dunnellon over Southwest

Dunnellon saw some tournament action on Friday. They fell to the Southwest Eagles 54-50. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Dunnellon lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Randy Jackson Jr, who posted ten points. Jackson Jr is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Eli Nelson was another key player, going 5 for 9 on his way to 12 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Dunnellon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Dunnellon now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Southwest, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Dunnellon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-65 loss against Northside Christian on the 28th. As for Southwest, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against TERRA Environmental at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Southwest is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
