Baseball Game Preview: Northview Knights vs. Marshall Lions

The Northview Knights will venture away from home to take on the Marshall Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The last four games Northview has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Northview took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Plainfield 1-0.

Meanwhile, Marshall can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They put the hurt on Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine with a sharp 15-7 win. The Lions not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 10th (when they won 13-0).

Dominic Huisinga was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Huisinga was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Liam Keim, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Payton McGuire was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

The victory got Marshall back to even at 7-7. As for Northview, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-9.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Northview has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Marshall struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
