Flag Football Recap: South Effingham Starts off Right with Win over Johnson

South Effingham gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They took down the Johnson Atomsmashers 20-6.

Morgan Hetzel was nothing short of spectacular: she rushed for 102 yards and one score on only ten carries. Those 102 rushing yards gave her a new career-high. Emily Deloach was in the mix too, providing South Effingham with two touchdowns.

South Effingham didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Savanna Dorsey.

Johnson's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

South Effingham wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 39-0 win against Claxton on the 30th. As for Johnson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Savannah Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
