Softball Recap: Brookfield's Win Ends 11-Game Losing Streak at Home

Brookfield had lost 11 games at home dating back to last season, but after bumping their record up to 2-10 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Newton Falls Tigers, sneaking past 4-3. That's two games straight that the Warriors have won by just one run.

Madison Obermiyer was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elaina Boyce, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. Mya Jumper was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

As for Newton Falls, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8-1. The loss continues a trend for them in their meetings with Brookfield: they've now lost seven in a row.

On Newton Falls' side, they saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hanna Wright, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Another was Madalyn Knight, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Brookfield will have a chance to go back-to-back against Newton Falls: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
