Baseball Game Preview: Grosse Pointe South Blue Devils vs. L'Anse Creuse North Crusaders

The Grosse Pointe South Blue Devils will face off against the L'Anse Creuse North Crusaders at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Grosse Pointe South is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

Grosse Pointe South is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Michigan's top teams: Adams, who was ranked third at the time (Grosse Pointe South was ranked tenth). The Blue Devils lost 12-0 to the Highlanders on Saturday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Blue Devils, who until this game were averaging 2.75 runs allowed.

Meanwhile, L'Anse Creuse North waltzed into their match on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 10-5.

L'Anse Creuse North's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Koston Blaskowski, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave Blaskowski a new career-high. Another was Wesley Zeiman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

L'Anse Creuse North pushed their record up to 9-12 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Grosse Pointe South, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 20-4.
