Baseball Game Preview: Serra Cavaliers vs. Leuzinger Olympians

The Serra Cavaliers will take on the Leuzinger Olympians at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Serra took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They never let Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cavaliers considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Serra let ISAIH MOLINA and MARC EMMERMAN run wild. MOLINA went 2-for-3 with one home run and one double, while EMMERMAN went 2-for-3 with one triple.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Serra lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Leuzinger). They were the clear victors by a 27-0 margin over Morningside on Tuesday. The Olympians haven't had any issues with the Monarchs recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Serra has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Leuzinger, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.

Serra took their victory against Leuzinger when the teams last played back in March of 2017 by a conclusive 17-6 score. Will the Cavaliers repeat their success, or do the Olympians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
