Recap: Tuscola Mountaineers vs. Pisgah Bears
This season hasn't been kind to the Tuscola Mountaineers, who are still winless after their 12th match. They received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 66-52 to Pisgah. Tuscola has struggled against Pisgah recently, as their matchup on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Tuscola's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jeremy Horton, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and six blocks. Another player making a difference was Peyton Ollis, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Sawyer Belue was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with two steals for Pisgah. Belue has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Clark, who scored 13 points.
Tuscola dropped their record down to 0-12 with that defeat, which was their 16th straight at home. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.4 points per game. As for Pisgah, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-5.
Tuscola will challenge Smoky Mountain at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Smoky Mountain's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six games. As for Pisgah, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against East Henderson at 7:30 p.m. East Henderson is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 63.6 points per game.
