Preview: Delta Rabbits vs. South Summit Wildcats

Delta is 0-3 against South Summit since September of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Delta Rabbits will take on the South Summit Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Friday, Delta never let their opponents score. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 42-0 win over South Sevier. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Delta as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Delta's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kadance Lovell, who rushed for 53 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Ty Stefanoff was another key contributor, gaining 72 total yards and two touchdowns.

Delta's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. South Sevier's QB won't forget Campbell Warnick anytime soon given Warnick sacked him five times.

Meanwhile, South Summit had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.5 points), and they went ahead and made it seven two weeks ago. They claimed a resounding 45-0 victory over Providence Hall at home. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as South Summit just coasted through the last quarter.

Trey Stembridge and Bracken Lassche were among the main playmakers for South Summit as the former rushed for 72 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries and the latter threw for 196 yards and three touchdowns. Kaden Hunter got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Delta now has a winning record of 6-5. As for South Summit, their victory was their seventh straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-2.

Delta came up short against South Summit in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 30-26. Thankfully for Delta, Juan Ramirez (who rushed for 46 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 69 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
