Volleyball Recap: Great Crossing Comes Up Short

Great Crossing was the 3-2 winner over Paul Laurence Dunbar when they last played one another on September 9th, but their luck changed this time around. The Warhawks fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. While the Warhawks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bulldogs 25-21 in the first set.

Great Crossing started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-21, 16-14.

Erin Thomas paced Great Crossing's offense, picking up 13 kills. Thomas got some help from Clarke McDonald and her 23 assists. Thomas was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Great Crossing's defeat dropped their record down to 17-7. As for Paul Laurence Dunbar, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-13.

Great Crossing wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Lexington Catholic on the 27th. As for Paul Laurence Dunbar, they have also already played their next match, a 2-1 win against Scott County on the 27th.
