Softball Recap: Highland Snags Third Victory in Last Four Games

Highland won against California City last Saturday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Highland Scots didn't even let the Fowler Redcats on the board, marking the Highland Scots' second-straight 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Scots, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Nevaeh Rodriquez, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one triple the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kamilla Baltazar, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Highland hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in nine consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Highland is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-1-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. Fowler is on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Highland will take on El Diamante at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fowler, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Porterville at 2:00 p.m.
