Baseball Recap: Crossroads Christian Comes Up Short

Crossroads Christian dropped their record down to 9-4 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Falls Lake Firebirds, falling 14-1. Having soared to a lofty 23 runs in the game before, the Colts couldn't push the score so high this time.

Crossroads Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Easton Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

As for Falls Lake, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.

On Falls Lake's side, Jacob Watson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Watson has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Falls Lake got a massive performance out of Kace Obriant, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Obriant has posted since back in March. Dalton Parker was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs.

Looking ahead, Crossroads Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against North Hills Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Falls Lake, they will head out to challenge Wake Prep Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
