Baseball Recap: Del Mar Triumphs

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Del Mar ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Silver Creek Raiders 8-7. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Dons as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Kyle McClements, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double. McClements is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Avery, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run.

Del Mar kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Silver Creek only managed six.

Del Mar's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Silver Creek, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-9.

Looking ahead, Del Mar will square off against Branham at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Dons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bruins have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Silver Creek, they will take on San Jose at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
