Softball Recap: Roane County Extends Winning Streak to Five

Roane County put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against the Tellico Plains Bears by a score of 6-1. That's more bragging rights for the Yellowjackets, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Sailor Presley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

Presley wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rhyan Henslee, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Ava Hamilton also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Roane County pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Tellico Plains, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roane County will challenge McMinn Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tellico Plains, they will head out to square off against Ooltewah at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
